Green Street Surgery Center Now Under Physician Leadership
Green Street Surgery Center, the only multi-specialty surgery center in downtown Columbus, Ohio, is now under physician leadership. The business has been restructured as unique joint venture between a group of surgeon-partnerships, Mount Carmel Health System and Cincinnati-based Blue Chip Surgical Center Partners, LLC. The physician group owns the majority share.

Blue Chip-Affiliated Surgeons to Present at Becker Conference
Look for Blue Chip at the Ambulatory Surgery Centers: 15th Annual Improving the Profitability of and Establishing ASCs, in Chicago, October 23-25th. Dr. Mark Beaugard and Dr. George Trajtenberg of Turk’s Head Surgery Center, West Chester, Pennsylvania, will share their experience operating an outpatient surgery center in partnershp with a community non-profit hospital and in turning around an underperforming center. Dr. John Caruso of the Parkway Neuroscience and Spine Institute, Hagerstown, Maryland, and Dr. John DiPaola of the East Portland Surgery Center, Portland, Oregon, will also present their experiences with ASC ownership.
Kathleen Whitlow Joins Blue Chip as Vice President, Operations
Kathleen Whitlow joined Blue Chip in April 2008 as Vice President, Operations. She has more than 25 years of experience in the medical/healthcare industry, working in a variety of capacities and positions. For Health Inventures, Kathleen worked as an ASC administrator and consultant with expertise in development, marketing, operations and strategic planning in support of facilities in Colorado, New Jersey and Kentucky. She has also helped develop and directed the outpatient and ambulatory surgery programs at a large national hospital chain, and served as an advisor/consultant to a group of attorneys representing physicians.
"I'm delighted to join Blue Chip because I believe in both the business and clinical models," she said. "I look forward to working with our surgeon-partners to create and manage patient-centric environments where physicians can focus on delivering the highest standard of care."
Kathleen has a nursing and business background, combining expertise in both the financial and clinical sides of the ASC business. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University and a nursing degree from Midway College. She is CASC-certified.
