Blue Chip Announces New Spine Surgery Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri

Blue Chip Surgical Center Partners is pleased to announce the opening of West Park Surgery Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

"We are very excited to partner with Blue Chip on a new outpatient spine surgery center for the Cape Girardeau community," said Scott Gibbs, MD, a neurosurgeon and President of West Park Surgery Center, as well as Founder/President of the Brain and Neurospine Clinic of Missouri. "We firmly believe that the continued evolution toward outpatient spine represents a win-win-win proposition for surgeons, patients and payers. Because of our focus on worker's compensation cases, we believe the local employer community will also benefit."

The initial ownership group includes six physicians and Blue Chip, which serves as managing partner. Terry Cleaver, MD, an anesthesiologist and pain management specialist, will serve as Medical Director for West Park Surgery Center, which opened in August.

"The time is now for outpatient spine surgery centers," said Kathleen Whitlow, Chief Operations Officer for Blue Chip. "Advancements in surgical techniques and technology and changing market conditions mean surgeons can focus on their patients in comfortable, convenient environments that also offer compelling financial benefits for all parties. And with the right system in place for worker's compensation, local workers will be able to return to work sooner, which benefits the entire community."

Blue Chip is a recognized leader in the development and management of spine-focused surgery centers. With the addition of Cape Girardeau facility, the Blue Chip team has developed or currently manages five dedicated spine surgery centers. It has also added spine to four other ASCs around the country.
